In this 2-part workshop, learn how to design, create and make your own textile art to convert into a bespoke lampshade. The first part of the course will take you through the design stages of marking out and completing your textiles art that best suits your sized lampshade. The second session will show you how to convert your textile art into a drum lampshade that complies with current UK fire safety regulations. All materials and equipment required to complete the workshop will be supplied, but if you do have any special fabrics, trims buttons etc, that you would like to use for your textile art, then please do bring it along. That also goes for your sewing machine and any favourite equipment that you like to use, eg scissors etc. Please note this is a 2-part workshop, and participants must be able to attend both sessions. Entry into the workshop is by suggested donation of £3 per session (yes that’s just £3!) which helps towards the running costs of the classes. This is a suggested donation, so if you are unable to cover the costs, please do get in touch and we will create a space for you for free. These workshops are part of our TeXInnovation Partnership with Cultivate Communities CIC and the University of Exeter, and are funded by the National Lottery Community Action Fund. This means that places are strictly limited, therefore as per our T&C's, we require 24 hours notice (at least) to cancel your place. Any "no shows" will be invoiced at the full amount of the course (£45 per person) as we cannot allow these places to be unused. Thank you for your understanding in this matter!
