- Starts 17 OctStarts 17 Oct

A lovely relaxing workshop to explore some of the beautiful techniques used within the Japanese art of sashimi stitching and boro mending. A chance to delve into some history and culture, using age-old techniques that are essential in today's repair and re-wear culture. In this class we will help you plan out your design using your favourite scraps of materials and incorporate the traditional boro mending techniques to create a bespoke hand crafted piece to use where you wish - as an appliqué on a bag or a repairing patch. All materials and patterns for the workshop will be provided but should you wish to incorporate your favourite textile scraps please bring them along! Entry into the workshop is by suggested donation of £3 per session (yes that’s just £3!) which helps towards the running costs of the classes. This is a suggested donation, so if you are unable to cover the costs, please do get in touch and we will create a space for you for free. These workshops are part of our TeXInnovation Partnership with Cultivate Communities CIC and the University of Exeter, and are funded by the National Lottery Community Action Fund. This means that places are strictly limited, therefore as per our T&C's, we require 48 hours notice (at least) to cancel your place. Any "no shows" will be invoiced at the full amount of the course (£45 per person) as we cannot allow these places to go unused. Thank you for your understanding in this matter!
